Permits
Purpose of Permits
Permits serve two purposes for the Victoria Fire Department. First, they provide a method of identification to certain activities, operations, practices or functions where additional information is vital to the success of firefighting operations. Secondly, permits ensure that a review of plans and specifications for the installation of fire protection systems, appliances, hazardous operations, or other building features has been completed.
Permit fees shall be paid prior to the issuance of a permit.
Permits shall be posted at the premises at all times and shall be readily available for inspection by the fire code official.
Issued permits are not transferable. Any change in occupancy, operation, tenancy, or ownership requires a new permit to be issued.
Issued permits shall not be construed as authority to violate, cancel, or set aside any provisions of the 2021 International Fire Code as adopted, or other applicable regulations or laws of the jurisdiction.
Construction Permits
A construction permit allows the applicant permission to install equipment utilized in connection with such activities, or to install or modify any fire protection system or equipment or other construction, equipment installation or modification in accordance with the provisions of the 2021 International Fire Code as adopted. The permit shall automatically become invalid if work does not commence within 180 days after its issuance.
Operational Permits
An operational permit allows the applicant permission to maintain, store, or handle materials, or to conduct processes, which produce conditions hazardous to life or property. The permit shall remain in effect until reissued, renewed, or revoked, or for such a period of time as specified on the permit.
