The City of Victoria will celebrate its bicentennial next year, and the City is inviting residents to help celebrate our history by sharing their memories of Victoria.
The City will display residents’ memorabilia at City Hall throughout the bicentennial year. Each display will be centered on a theme:
- January-February: Our Multicultural Heritage
- March-April: Happy Anniversary!
- May-June: Legendary Victoria Sports
- July-August: Festivals, Food & Fun
- September-October: Back to School
- November-December: The Holidays in Victoria
Items will be returned to their owners after each display period ends.
The Convention & Visitors Bureau has also partnered with the City of Victoria Communications & Public Affairs to film “Victoria Stories,” a series of oral histories about Victoria. The series will feature interviews with residents sharing their experiences and memories of life in Victoria.
“Next year will be about celebrating Victoria’s past, present and future, and we’re excited to see the memories that residents will share as we reflect on what makes our community unique,” said Convention & Visitors Bureau Director Joel Novosad.
