The City is preparing to launch the first episode of Town Talk, a podcast with a familiar name and a new format that will feature engaging, open conversations between city staff, local leaders and community members.
“There are many interesting conversations already being had amongst City staff members about topics our residents really care about,” said Communications & Public Affairs Director Ashley Strevel. “While City Council meetings and news releases are one way to receive news, we felt this podcast will be an opportunity to take an even closer look at all of that.”
Each episode will feature a variety of subjects, with Communications staff providing an insider perspective on efforts and initiatives from the City of Victoria and other local agencies, as well as reviewing residents’ feedback on street projects and other frequently discussed topics.
“There’s something so appealing to many today about subject-matter experts having unscripted conversations through a podcast format where you feel kind of like a fly on the wall,” Strevel said. “It’s insightful, and also feels exclusive, which it is for those who tune in.”
Town Talk’s first episode will introduce the discussion of what growth truly looks like in Victoria, as well as a fun interaction with residents by answering questions the City’s Communications team has received through its social media channels.
