What is Ask-A-Librarian?

Our Ask-A-Librarian service provides answers to factual questions and gives referrals to resources by e-mail. Librarians monitor our Ask-A-Librarian service daily and strive to respond to questions within 24 hours.

Examples of the types of questions appropriate for the Ask-A-Librarian service include:

Addresses and phone numbers of companies, institutions, associations, and governmental entities. 

Example:  What is the address of the President of the United States?

Brief factual information such as census data or biographical information. 

Examples:  What is the current population of Victoria County, or who founded Victoria, Texas?

Referrals to resources. 

Example:  Does the library have any books or other information on the Karankawa Indian tribe?
